138 Case Report: Frontal Sinus Mucocele Following Frontal Bone Fracture

Abstract Introduction Giant frontal mucocele of the sinus is a rare benign pathology caused by retention mucous secretions. They develop when opening paranasal becomes obstructed due to trauma, infection, chronic sinusitis, polyps, malignancy, bony tumours, or congenital anomalies. This case reports giant conservative management bone fracture 30 years ago. Presenting 64 –year- old male was referred his GP maxillofacial department after noting slow growing lesion between eyebrows resulting in him not being able wear glasses. He reported history horse-riding trauma ago, fracture, which managed conservatively. has been slowly over years. Medically he suffers from uncontrolled hypertension and had metallic aortic valve replacement coronary artery bypass grafting. MRI CT imaging demonstrates 2cm cystic consistent with proteinaceous hyperdense fluid. Discussion Fractures bone, involves sinus, are relatively uncommon injuries, comprising up 5% all injuries. Mucocele development long-term complication, can arise persist 6 months decades after. Management these cases require joint surgical approach Ear, Nose Throat for removal Maxillofacial reconstruction via endoscopically using balloon an osteoplastic flap/spectacle incision.
